I thought the toll to meet the house and museum was a bit high although you get to see ALOT, still costly. If you can't afford all, definitley go the lower cost and just see the museum, well worth the money! and I think the best part of the bout by far.

One of the highlights of our trip to Memphis. Seeing where Dr. Male monarch was assassinated and the accompanying museum was unforgettable. The museum is incredibly comprehensive. Then informative and thought provoking. Begins with slavery and ends past delving into the conspiracy theories of the assassination. This is not to exist missed while in z Memphis.

This museum is astonishing! I had to leave a review of information technology just considering I went to this museum and Graceland on the aforementioned day and felt sooooooo ripped off at graceland and I actually think the content is lacking though I exercise acknowledge I exercise take a little more prior interest in the content at STAX but my soul music cognition is lacking though I similar the genre. Graceland was the worst museum I went to in all of TN (I went to Stax, graceland, dominicus studios, civil rights museum, state music museum and hall of fame, johhny cash museum, patsy cline museum, willie nelson and friends museum, ripleys believe or non aquarium, marathon village knoxville museum if fine art, salt and pepper shaker museum, pinball museum, and the eastern tennessee history museum). STAX was the best museum I went to in Memphis (those being STAX, Graceland, sunday studios and Civil rights museum) and peradventure my whole unabridged trip! I like soul music, but I'm a younger white adult so I don't accept a ton of exposure to it and I have to say I learned so much and took then many pictures only so I could accept artists names to wait up later as I am always listening to music. I am likewise a coincidental musician and my significant other is a slightly less than casual musician and it revived u.s.a. and inspired us as we take been somewhat jaded/finding ways to be too "decorated" or "uninterested" in music.
As for the quality of the content. Lots to read and look at. Very well laid out in a kind of a timeline fashion from origins in church/gospel and country/hillbilly music all the manner up to the flashy 70s we all know. The history displays and memorabilia displays were very good. The film at the outset I recollect was pretty proficient, I know it was probably the best out of all the museums I went to with a film like that. I honestly can't say exactly what I thought about it considering I was then taken ashamed by the residue of the content I kind of forgot virtually the film.
The workers were then squeamish and inviting. Also, the merchandise was awesome! I think I spent similar literally 200 bucks there. I definitely don't become shy in gift stores if I similar the stuff in there, but near fifty percent of the fourth dimension I stick to but the magnet. A lot of merch at these museums is kinda cheesy, just stax had a decent array.
I rushed myself at the end because we were going to stupid, expensive graceland. Thankfully it was really merely the singles and album encompass department. I commonly don't really look at the singles, tape section at these music museums and so I completely skipped poring over those and I just took pics of the albums covers I really liked to look at afterward and skimmed the rest. Even with rushing through at the very terminate the museum was 2.v hours of content for me. Could probably accept spent another 60 minutes with watching some of the video content a niggling more and looking at the album covers a niggling more than closely.Written May half-dozen, 2022

Nicely fine small-scale museum. Learned a lot of history about soul and blues music. We visited as part of the Backstage pass which covers four entry fees: this one, STAX, Sun Studio and Graceland - a good bargain. Nosotros enjoyed our visit and recommend the museum.

Slave Haven was a well worthwhile stop on our visit to Memphis. Staff was virtually cordial and informative. In terms of improvement I would highly recommend the ability to brand reservations on line with a confirmation. Although non having anything more than an "ok, y'all can come at that fourth dimension" I wasn't sure that we would in fact exist recognized as having a reservation. We arrived early on and so we were at the commencement of the pack (in that location was no line or reservation no.).
The Art Museum was a treat with the wonderful Albrecht Durer collection. Fortunately nosotros were able to rouse staff as they were hunkered down in the basement tornado shelter and nosotros were contesting the elements outside! All's well that ends well.
Graceland is well worth the visit as was the Civil Rights Museum & Ms Girlees Soul Food Restaurant.

Some squeamish views of the Memphis skyline from Mud Island, and an opportunity to accept your photograph with the Memphis sign. There was no h2o in the Riverwalk, when we were at that place, but I'm sure it'due south really nice in the summer.

It was our plough to have our great-granddaughter - a toddler. I usually dread 'child' places just this has so many things of interest to her (and might I add together - apparently upwardly to pre-teens) that the fourth dimension went swiftly and pleasantly.
In case you don't read the entire review, let me recommend the carousel. It was built in 1903, was at the midtown fairgrounds for many years (and reportedly has some Elvis connection) and has been immaculately restored. It runs every fifteen minutes starting at the top of the 60 minutes, so if you have an impatient tyke, you can fourth dimension information technology to eliminate long waits.
The kitchen surface area is fairly large and dominated our Childs imagination, though the Fed-ex 'hub' with it's in-plane camera engendered a lot of cooperation among kids. There's a grocery where you tin can 'buy and scan things, a theater where yous'll appear on camera; behemothic 'erector' set up (tin can't retrieve of the real name) where you can connect wheels, hubs, spokes; A vibrating tabular array emulating an earthquake (shakes blocks you've built on it); a mist 'tornado' y'all can interrupt with your hand; things to throw; things to plough - too many things for i visit.
The mean solar day we visited was great - little to no waiting. However, I'd recommend calling to insure you don't share the place with a large group/school outing.Written January 5, 2022

We visited hither recently and institute information technology to exist a good place to visit. It has a squeamish mix of natural history, Americana, cultural displays, and historical artifacts. Nosotros enjoyed the various exhibits, particularly the early on health, pharmacy, and medicine displays. The natural history items were interesting and demonstrated intelligent blueprint and speciation (and not development, as asserted). There are minerals of the world on display, a Civil War exhibit, and Native American items. Upstairs, The Pink Palace contains boosted exhibits on natural history and culture, too as a miniature circus display. (Being from the northeast, we weren't familiar with Piggly Wiggly.)
All in all, nosotros spent just under 2 hours hither, enjoying the exhibits and adding to our knowledge of our world. Museum was like shooting fish in a barrel to find and had plentiful free parking.

A variation on the "art museum". Amazing pieces, with a variety of styles. Plus a working store where you lot can meet people creating new piece of work live.

This museum must not exist missed. The Asian collection is crazy extensive, comprising rooms and rooms of stunningly beautiful artwork - sculpture, ornamented vases and urns, embroidered robes and wall hangings - from dynasties extending over several millennia. The intricate ivory and jade carvings are exquisite in detail and breathtaking.
The Jewish fine art collection is as well auite extensive and includes cute biblical, historical and domestic art, besides as Bible - based sculptures and ritual objects.

We visited this museum today and it was very informative. It is quite small with not much information so it will not take a lot of time. The receptionist was very mannerly and informative. The cost is 10 dollars. Non likewise bad a place.

I love to tour historic homes and this was a wonderful experience. The docents were informative and friendly, the effects were beautiful and we really enjoyed our time there, would recommend adults simply as children probable would not enjoy and may exist a run a risk to the frail items.

Since we were there in the late autumn we couldn't get the full benefit of the grounds, which although nicely manicured had turned brown due to the weather. The galleries, 1 of which was the principal flooring of the former Dixon residence were nice and had excellent exhibits. Nosotros got to see the Friedel Dzubas exhibit which is in that location through January 5th, They offer senior and AAA discounts.

We visited the fire museum and were very impressed by the drove of toy burn down engines and the restored burn trucks. Information technology is housed in 2 buildings downtown including an actual firehouse! There is a great kids surface area and the simulation of the house burn down was astonishing and idea provoking! The docents were very friendly and informative and helped to brand the visit more meaningful and enjoyable. Highly recommend
